Welcome to the Pauline Haass Public Library Historic Digital Collection! Look through Hamilton High school yearbooks from 1964-2014, read through Sussex State Graded School newsletters from the 1920s through the 1940s, and browse through 50 years of photographs, all showcasing the history of schools in Sussex!

In November of 2019, the Pauline Haass Public Library borrowed a digitization kit provided by the Department of Public Instruction. This kit was created specifically for libraries in the Bridges system to digitize local history materials for online viewing.

Through a partnership with the Sussex-Lisbon Area Museum, we created an exhibit covering 100 years of Sussex schools. (By the way, if you haven’t been to the museum, you should check it out!)

Our wonderful volunteers spent countless hours scanning 199 materials, entering massive amounts of data, and finally uploading the collection to the database.

We hope that as you look through this collection you will recognize Sussex being shaped into the home it is today and meet the many people who have worked hard to make it a great place to live–and learn!

Please contact the library with any questions. We want to thank everyone, especially our volunteers, who helped digitize this collection: you were a vital part of this project and we appreciate you and your hard work.
