Book Club Changes Coming in 2026
Starting January 1, 2026, book club members will place their own holds for each month’s title. The library will continue reserving meeting spaces and posting your chosen reading lists on the library website.
We’re making this change to better serve all readers and library partners. Coordinating books for multiple clubs takes significant staff time and uses a large amount of our limited counter space, and many of the requested copies come from other CAFE libraries—sometimes without all being checked out. Having members place their own holds ensures books go to readers who plan to use them and helps library resources circulate more efficiently. We’re also opening book clubs to all who want to join! In the past, we kept waiting lists because we were limited by the number of copies we could borrow, and some went unused. Now that each reader will borrow their own copy, we can welcome more participants—the only limit will be our meeting room space.
We know it might take a little time to get comfortable with the new process, and library staff are still here to help! Stop by or call the Reference Desk at 262-246-5181 for one-on-one assistance with holds or the Libby app. At checkout, let staff know your book is for a book club, and they will be glad to adjust your loan to a five-week period.

How to Place Holds
Print & CD Audiobooks
- Use the Café app or visit https://sx-wauk.na5.iiivega.com/.
- Search your title and format, then place your hold.
- Verify your notification preference (text or email) and pick up your book from the open holds area once you’re notified.
Libby eBooks & eAudiobooks
- Search for your title in the Libby app.
- Borrow or place a hold, depending on availability.
- Remember hold times in Libby can be lengthy! It is helpful to have a backup plan if your hold isn’t filled in time.
Tips for Success
- Place physical format holds about a week before you want to pick them up.
- Allow more time for ebooks, because hold times in Libby can be lengthy! You can suspend holds that you’re not ready to borrow if they arrive early. It may also be helpful to have a backup plan if your hold isn’t filled in time.
- Choose titles published in 2022 or earlier with multiple copies available in the CAFE catalog; popular, well-distributed titles are easiest for everyone to access.
- Consider choosing one member to act as a facilitator who will notify the library of the group’s book choices and help other members as they learn the process.
- Need help? Call or visit the Reference Desk for one-on-one assistance.
